Sending the humanitarian aid to El Salvador is very costly as it entails the expense of USA in-land freight, ocean freight, warehousing, and handling fees charged by the donating agency (some of these fees range from $5,000 to $8,000 for a 40 ft. container – in addition to the ocean freight expense). For every dollar supporters donate, $60 worth of humanitarian aid is shipped for free distribution.
The donation of 5 hens, a rooster, and supplies to create a small chicken farm are given to a beneficiary family. Every family who is benefited will have the responsibility to provide another family with the same donation. Our goal is to multiply and sustain the production of poultry in rural communities, and provide beneficiaries with food security plus an income generating source.
FUSAL distributes a food basket every month ideally with rice, beans, soy, milk, vegetable oil, sugar, and oats. The Foundation purchases 2,962 baskets every month at a cost of $9.58 each for free distribution. Food donations are hardly accessible; most of these food items are purchased locally with the help of donations, and our generosity store. With this donation a family will receive a package of food every month for one year.
FUSAL provides healthcare, offering prenatal and postnatal services for expecting mothers, provides entire family with medical consultations, vitamins, vaccinations, and periodic follow-ups, in addition to food staples every month.
