El Salvador is extremely prone to natural disasters such as earthquakes, land slides, and hurricanes. According to the United Nation's World Risk Index, El Salvador ranks among the top 10 countries most prone for natural disasters in a study of 173 nations around the world.
SAHF has created an emergency fund where designated monetary donations are placed at in the eventuality that the country may be struck by a catastrophic event.
In the event of a natural or man-made disaster, SAHF extends hours of operation and increases in-kind aid sent to El Salvador. Several bank accounts become active to facilitate and increase monetary donations. These donations allow for immediate purchases, local to those in need and bolster the economy of the afflicted area.
