VIRTUAL APPEAL | 2020

As we face unprecedented challenges this year, SAHF is grateful for the constant support of our friends and donors. While we continually adapt to uncertainty and change, we have modified SAHF’s annual Love & Light Gala from an in-person event to an online virtual appeal, IMAGINE.

The pandemic and its on-going effects have made us reflect more intentionally on what an El Salvador without food insecurity or lack of education would be like. Imagining possible futures drives our work as well as being part of a collective effort that transforms what we imagine into a renewed reality. As a result, we have put the concrete goals of bringing food security and access to education at the forefront of our current programs.

We are committed to impacting the lives of our beneficiaries in meaningful and sustainable ways especially as they continue to be affected not only by COVID-19 but also Tropical Storm Amanda and subsequent landslides. Through a joint effort with our sister foundation FUSAL, SAHF is providing food, clothing and aid to affected families while continuing to provide PPE equipment to healthcare workers on the frontlines in El Salvador and countless meals to its most vulnerable citizens.

Despite the insurmountable obstacles 2020 has brought, it is in times of crisis that our mission with presence becomes most relevant and urgent.

Our work is far from over!

Wishing you and your loved ones good health and safety.

Blessings,

OUR MISSION:
To enhance the well-being of the underserved people in El Salvador through human development programs in health, nutrition and education implemented with our in-country sister Foundation, FUSAL, and other agencies.

WHAT WE DO:
We ship medicines, medical supplies, medical equipment, food, and educational materials to support our programs. Since 1983, more than $750 million worth of this type of aid has been distributed. In addition, SAHF sponsors a bilingual program at an urban high-risk community.

WHO WE SERVE:
We focus on financially challenged Salvadoran men, women and children.
-3,834 children under the age of 5 who live in rural El Salvador.
-1,044 children receiving English classes who live in an at-risk community.
-Over 900 hospitals, clinics, rural health posts, schools, orphanages, rural health promoters, nursing homes and other NGO’s
OUR IMPACT:
We provide nutrition and early childhood development programs to more than 3,834 children under the age of 5 who live in rural El Salvador fostering healthy minds and bodies.

1,044 children from kindergarten to high school receive English as a second language instruction giving them an opportunity to break the cycle of poverty by having a skill that is well remunerated in El Salvador; so they can provide for their families in a local job market.

Hundreds of public and local institutions receive millions of dollars worth of free medicines, medical supplies, food and educational materials to support their programs and expand coverage to their beneficiaries.
SAHF is grateful to those patrons who have already committed to this year’s virtual appeal.
As new donors make a pledge, we will add their names and/or logos to this section.
