August 19

Each year on World Humanitarian Day, we pause to recognize the courage, compassion, and commitment of humanitarian workers across the globe. These individuals step into difficult situations to deliver critical aid, restore dignity, and offer hope where it’s needed most.
At the Salvadoran American Humanitarian Foundation (SAHF), this day holds special meaning. For over four decades, our work has been guided by a deep sense of solidarity with the people of El Salvador—especially those facing poverty, crisis, or lack of access to basic services. Together with our partner FUSAL and a network of supporters, we deliver food, medicine, educational resources, and hope to thousands each year.
While we may not always be on the front lines, our mission is grounded in the same humanitarian principles: compassion, neutrality, and a belief in the fundamental dignity of every person. Every donation, every shipment, every life touched is part of this shared effort.
On this World Humanitarian Day, we honor those who serve, those who give, and those who keep hope alive. We invite you to join us in continuing this work—because humanitarian action begins with all of us.
